Why is Sodium Not Used for Cutlery?

Too much sodium, or salt, is incredibly bad for you. Having your cutlery made out of the stuff is even worse. Sodium is highly reactive to water and will dissolve quickly. A dissolving knife is bad, but when the sodium begins to dissolve it produces an exothermic reaction that ignites the hydrogen it produces.
