Why is Pluto a Dwarf Planet?

The International Astronomers Union changed their definition of a planet, and Pluto didn’t meet the new criteria. They now call Pluto a dwarf planet, since it hasn’t cleared the neighborhood around its orbit. Many scientists protest the IAU’s decision, noting that many scientists were unable to vote on that date. In fact, only 500 of its 9000 members were able to vote.
