Why is Biology Important to the World?

Biology is important because it teaches us about life (‘bio-‘ means ‘life). Studying other living things helps us understand the world in which we live. Sometimes it can even save our lives. Without biology, we wouldn’t understand how our own bodies worked, and therefore wouldn’t be able to prevent certain diseases or make medicines for when we do get sick. If you know to punch a shark in the gills if you’re ever attacked, that’s also an example of using biological facts to your advantage!
