Why is Any Number to the Zero Power One?

The reason why any number to the zero power is one has to do with the division property of exponents. For instance, 10 squared (100) divided by 10 to the first (10) equals 10 to the first. With exponents you subtract the exponent of the divisor from the exponent of the dividend. Ten to the first divided by ten to the first would be zero. Any number divided by itself is one.
