Who Started NAFTA?

The North American Free Trade Agreement was basically a child of a treaty between the United States and Canada. After the United States and Canada signed the Canada-United States Free Trade agreement in 1988 the United States decided to pursue something similar with Mexico, at this time Canada asked to become a member of that as well. The three National leaders who worked on it were, George H.W. Bush of the U.S., Brian Mulroney, Canada’s Prime Minister and Carlos Salinas, President of Mexico.
