Who Invented the Revolver?

The revolver, so called for its revolving cylinder, was invented by Samuel Colt. Remarkably, Mr. Colt came up with the idea when he was only about 13 in 1827. It wasn’t until years later that the Colt revolver became widely used. It wasn’t until the outbreak of the Mexican-American War in 1846 that a call came out by the government for a large supply of the gun. The rest is history as the Colt factory became one of the largest producer of firearms.
