Where Did Woodstock Take Place?

As you might know by now, Woodstock did not take place at Woodstock. Planned for a site in the town of Woodstock in upstate New York, logistical mishaps caused the music festival’s producers to look elsewhere. So on August 15, 1969 the famous fest kicked-off its three day concert with Richie Havens singing to a crowd of 400,000 on farm land in Bethel, New York owned by local Max Yasgur. On the bright side, Woodstock could otherwise be known as The Max Yasgur Diary Farm Festival.
