When Were Pants Invented?

In 1760 men were wearing breeches which were from the knee to the waist and had stockings covering the remainder of the leg. This is where we get the term britches from. By 1812, men were wearing pantaloons (where we get the term pants) that were made popular by George Bryan Brummell. These pantaloons were made with foot straps to avoid creases by keeping them tight.
