When was the Kkk Formed?

The KKK, or Ku Klux Klan, was formed in the years immediately following the Civil War. The organization began as an attempt to limit the actions of the Union Army following the South’s defeat. Later, the organization expanded to enforce segregation and Jim Crow laws. By the early 20th century, the KKK had expanded well beyond the South. In the 1920s, Indiana was the state with the most KKK members. Today, the KKK is still a powerful voice in the racist community, but has been joined by numerous other racist organizations.
