When was the Ice Cream Cone Invented?

There is much debate on the first invention of the ice cream cone but the most credible account was by Italo Marciony, a street vendor who sold his homemade lemon ice from a push cart on Wall Street. He needed a container for his lemon ice so he began making edible waffle cups with sloping sides and a flat bottom. On December 15, 1903 he was issued Patent No. 746971 for the ice cream cone.
