When was Spain Established?

The Kingdom of Spain was established after the ‘Reconquista’ (when the native Spaniards expelled the Islamic invaders) when the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon united in order to form the moden country. It became Europe’s wealthiest country during the 15th and 16th centuries from the wealth of it colonies. Several centuries later Spain was faced with revolts, famines and plagues and today although a wealthy nation by world stardards it still has some problems with some provinces that want to tear away, like the Basque Country.
