When was Jello Invented?

The actual Jell-O brand gelatin was created in 1897 by Pearl Wait, who added some fruit syrup to her gelatin to give it a better flavor. Powdered gelatin was invented in 1682 by a gentleman named Dennis Papin. The first idea to cook the gelatin powder with sugar to make a dessert came along in 1845 when Peter Cooper decided to give it a try.
