What was the Hollywood Ten?

The Hollywood ten were ten individuals that had been named by other sources as being members of the Communist party before WW11. In interviews conducted by the HUAC ( House of Un- American activities Committee), 19 people were named and ten refused to to be interviewed; siting their first amendment right to refuse. Federal officials disagreed with their refusal and they sentenced from 6 months to 12 months in jail. You can find more information here:
