What was Life Like in the 1920s?

In the 1920s, live was fairly chaotic as the whole era of the 20s represented vast amounts of change within the country of the United States. In the 1920s, most families were in deep amounds of debt due to the Great Depression that began in the beginning of the era as a result of the stock market crash. Many American families were just beginning to have running water and electricity within their homes during this era, and life was starting to become fairly comfortable because of this. In the homes that did have electricity, women used electricity to power refridgerators, vaccum cleaners and radios. Movies became a very popular passtime in the 1920s as well, except movies were typically silent (but someties had subtitles) and were also in black and white. Although this is the case, as stated above, the living standards within the 1920s greatly dropped as income sharly reduced to over 40% less than what families were typically making. It was at this point when mothers became providers for the family, and family life thus changed drastically.
