Labor is probably one of the scariest parts of pregnancy. Don’t worry the nurses and doctors will take good care of you and your baby. During labor you can expect some bleeding, your water may break, and you will be having regular contractions that will increase in intensity. Once at the hospital a nurse will check to see how much you have progressed by checking your cervix. The nurses will also place a monitor on your stomach to monitor your contractions and your baby. Your doctor will usually not be present until you are ready to deliver the baby, unless there are complications or risks. Try and attend a birthing class they are helpful and they usually explain that hospitals particular policies and procedures and what you can expect during labor.
