What is Tribal Sovereignty?

Tribal sovereignty is generall defined as the federal govermnt’s recogniton of the right for tribes to govern and run themselves in an autonomous manner. This is why the regulations and rules on a reservation are different from the rest of the United States. Although this is the case, the constitution is the supreme law of the land. This just means that while tribes are autonomous in nature, they must also abide by the supreme law of the land.
