What is the Fortune 500?

The Fortune 500 is an annual list constructed and published by Fortune Magazine. This annual list ranks the top 500 public and private U.S. companies according to gross revenues adjusted for excise tax (which is to be excluded). According to the 2009 Fortune 500 rankings, Exxon Mobil is ranked first with gross revenues with $442,851 million. The first Fortune 500 list was published in 1995. For more information see here:
