What is the Definition of An Integer?

An integer means a whole number. The word comes from Latin and in literal terms, means ‘untouched’. It consists of numbers as per (…., -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,…). If you are asked to round 18.4 to the nearest integer, the result would be 18, but rounding up to the nearest integer would make it 19.
