What is Strep?

Strep is called known as strep throat, or tonsillitis. Its a painful bacteria infection that causes the tonsills to become red and inflamed. The symptoms range from headache, sore throat, fever and blisters or pus on the tonsills. Usually strep throat will clear up on its own accord, but there is occasions when the bacteria needs antibiotics to clear it. You need to see the doctor immediately if the throat is very swollen and you cannot swallow properly or your having problems breathing. A doctor will usually take a swab of your throat just to make sure you don’t have anything nasty lurking in the back of your throat.
