What is Statue of Limitations?

The statuTe of limitations on a crime is the length of time that passes, after which the guilty party is no longer held accountable. For example, if you steal an article of clothing and don’t get caught, the statute of limitations might be a few years. After this time, you can no longer be held accountable or found guilty of the crime. Statutes of limitations usually only apply to small and petty crimes.
