Sofrito is main and first ingredient in many latino dishes. Its what gives our food a kick and flavor that is different from all others which is why sofrito can be translated as ‘flavor’. Usually sofrito is made by cutting up pieces of onion and peppers and sauteing them in oil or butter. Then you add the mixture to whatever dish you are making like meat or beans or anything else. Even though sofrito is popular primarily in Hispanic communities anybody interested in a little more flavor will like this dish.
