What is Point Slope Form?

The point-slope form can be useful for finding the equation of a straight line. The formula for point-slope form is given by the equation Y-Y1= M(X – X1) where the slope is M and the point is ( X1, Y1). To find the equation of line that has a slope of 4 and a point given as (3, 4), you simply substitute these values into M, X1, and Y1 to find that Y-4 = 4(X -3) or that Y= 4x – 8.
