What is Mormon?

Mormon is a name used to identify members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mormons or LDS as they are also called follow the teachings of Joseph Smith who is said to have received tablets from God directing him to begin a new restored church and gospel. The Mormon religions main offices are headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Mormon church at one time was best known for the practice of polygamy and some off shoots of the church still indulge in it. However the main stream LDS church no longer condones this practice.
