What is Intrinsic Value?

How do you place a value on something you cannot see or touch? That is the problem with intrinsic value. Intrinsic value is added value to an individual due to the benefit that the situation or circumstances provide. It is not always a measured or monetary value. An example might be a company that provides childcare on the premises. This would be an added benefit to an employee that requires such service but may not mean additional income or childcare savings.
