What is Gross National Product?

Gross National Product is the value of all goods and services derived from interests owned by the country’s residents during a one year period plus foreign based profits or losses. Not to be confused with GDP which is a very similar concept and often results in similar numbers. There is a major difference between GNP and GDP. GDP only considers the money which is made from goods and services produced within the country whereas GNP considers the money made from goods and services owned by the country’s residents whether within the country or foreign based.
