What is Frost Bite?

Frost bite is a condition of the skin that is damaged due to extreme cold conditions. There are three stages of frost bite. During the first stage, the skin can turn yellow or white but can be reversed by adding warm water to the skin. The second stage, the skin reddens and swells and blisteing can occur. The third stage, the skin is damaged and dies. The skin may become dark purple or black and may become permanant if not treated promptly.
