What is Face Value?

Face value is the amount something is worth that’s indicated on the actual item. For example, if a nickel says 5 cents on it, then the face value would be 5 cents. If a stamp says 32 cents, then the face value would be 32 cents. If you’ve ever heard the saying ‘Just take them at face value’, it could refer to a person as to the way they act or appear, is exactly what they really are.
