What is Dvt?

A dvt is an abbreviation used for the term deep vein thrombosis. Dvt’s are blood clots that form in deep veins, typically the leg. Individuals that are immobile, over the age of 60 and those traveling for extended periods in seating that limits movement are at greatest risk. If a clot forms and dislodges this can result in an embolism. This is a life threatening situation that requires immediate medical intervention.
