What is Data Compression?

The purpose of data compression is to make a file smaller by minimizing the amount of data present. When a file is compressed, it can be reduced to as little as 25% of its’ original size which make it much easier to send to others over the internet. When a file is compressed, there are markers that summarize data instead of having all of the data present. When a file is uncompressed all of the data is returned in its’ original format.
