What is Chagas Disease?

Chagas disease is a parasitic disease that is usually given to humans by a blood sucking insect. It can also be passed by blood transfusions or transplants. Symptoms start out fairly mild, with just some swelling at the sight of the bite or infection point. But as it continues, the symptoms get worse and may sometimes cause heart disease or problems with the intestines. It can cause death because medicines are relatively ineffective.
