What is An Aortic Aneurysm?

An aortic aneurysm is a weakness in the walls of the aorta. Think of the aorta as a thin tube that carries blood. When the aorta develops an aneurysm, the aorta appears to have a balloon in it that is being blown up. Your aorta will bulge where the aneurysm is located. Due to the bulge, the walls of the aorta become thinner.
