What is a Young Horse Called?

Horses go through a few stages and a newborn horse is called a foal, and a foal can be a filly which is a young female horse or a colt which is a young male horse. Once the fole reaches 4 to 6 months and the fole is weaned from the mother baby horse is now called a weanling and will be called a weanling until about 1 year old. Then at 1 year old the horse will be called a yearling. Then after two years old the horse will be called by adult names mare and stallions.
