What is a Truss?

A truss is something that is used to bind or tie something up or it can be to support or strengthen a structure. If you were using the word truss when talking about a medical application then a good example is for hernia patients. A truss is used to keep the hernia from enlarging or protruding by applying pressure to the hernia. For a civil engineer they would use a truss (network of bars or beams) to provide support for structures such as buildings, bridges, or roofs.
