What is a State of Being Verb?

A state of being verb are verbs are is, am, were, was, are, be, being, been. State of being verbs can show time, such as ‘I am working’ or can show things that happened in the past, such as in ‘ I was working till you bothered me.’ Sometimes state of being verbs are called helping or linking verbs.
