What is a Prime Number?

A prime number has only two divisors– 1 and itself. For instance, 13 can only be divided by 1 or 13 and that makes it a prime number. Other numbers are called composite because they have other divisors. Look at 14 for instance, it can be divided by 1, 2, 7 and 14. Don’t be fooled though the numbers 0 and 1 are NOT prime numbers as they do not have even 2 divisors! Happy figuring. For more math facts try:
