What is a Muscle Spasm?

A muscle spasm is an involuntary contraction of a muscle, and is sometimes painful. Physical, chemical, emotional or mental stress can cause muscle spasms, and if a muscle contracts for too long, it can result in a cramp due to the lack of blood flow caused by the contraction. In short, they are no fun! Unless, of course, it’s the non-painful type, and it’s your friend’s top lip or maybe their eyelid, and it makes them look hilarious!
