What is a Motion to Quash?

A Motion to Quash is a legal motion filed in court cases when one is seeking to challenge the validity of service of a legal document. Most often, a Motion to Quash is filed to challenge the service of a subpoena, with the claim being that the subpoena or other document was not properly served on the person making the challenge. If successful, the document served with no longer obligate the person to appear and new service of the document will have to be effected.
