What is a Hida Scan?

A HIDA scan is a heptobiliary iminodiacetic scan. A special radioactive fluid is introduced into your body, where it flows through your liver, gall bladder, small intestine, and the vessels connecting them. This fluid allows these organs to be clearly seen during the scan, allowing your doctor to be able to see if there is anything blocking the flow of liver and gall bladder fluids.
