What is a Freudian Slip?

The phrase Freudan slip means ‘a slip of the tongue.’ It is a verbal mistake that is believed to reveal a repressed belief, thought or emotion. It is also believed to be an error in memory or physical action that could be caused by an unconscious mind. It was coined by Sigmun Freud, a psychoanalyst in the late 1880s. Freudan slip is also known as ‘parapraxis.’
