What Happens When You have a Seizure?

During a generalized motor seizure, the person is unconscious and has repetitve back-and-forth movements of the upper and lower extremities. The person may bite their tongue, lose control of the bowels or bladder, or injure themselves when they fall. Afterwards, there is usually a period of gradual and progressive return to normal consciousness. It is caused by an abnormal electrical discharge by central nervous system neurons.
