What Happened to the Uss Indianapolis?

In the very early morning of July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. Sadly, because of the ship’s position, no one realized it was missing until survivors were found by accident. In an incredibly unfortunate turn of events, the ship’s captain was court-martialed for not performing a maneuver to prevent the ship from getting hit, even after testimony from the submarine captain that fired upon the ship that there was nothing that could have been done. It was later discovered after documents were declassified that the captain had been used as a scape goat to cover up the Navy’s mistakes. For more information look here:
