What Happened on August 6 1945?

August 6, 1945 is the date the first atomic bomb was used in warfare. An atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later on August 9, 1945 a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagaski, Japan. This second bomb convinced the Japanese government that the United States had the capacity to obliterate the entire Japanese island chain and they surrendered ending World War II.
