What Eats Manatees?

Weighing between 800-1200 pounds and up to ten feet long, the manatee may seem like a formidable animal. Found in the waters of southern Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean, manatees are strange but gentle creatures which live solely off vegetation found in sea and fresh waters. Interestingly, manatees have no natural predators. Many manatees die each year from collisions with boats, trappings in canal locks or ingestion of fishing line or other lethal litter left behind by people.
