What does the Fifth Amendment Mean?

If someone says ‘I plead the Fifth!’, they’re most likely referring to the clause in the Fifth Amendment that states you cannot be forced to testify against yourself in a court of law. Teenagers often use this phrase in an attempt to evade punishment for wrongdoing (at least I did. I was subsequently grounded).
