What do You Need to be a Lawyer?

Typically to become a lawyer you need to attend law school, preferably an accredited law school. You must graduate from law school and receive a J.D., or juris doctorate. Then you have to take and pass the State Bar Exam along with the State’s Professional Responsibility (or legal ethics) exam. Finally, you need to be ‘sworn in’ in order to officially be able to ‘practice’ law.
