What do Tire Numbers Mean?

All those letters and numbers on the side of your tires can be a bit confusing, but once you know what they mean it all becomes clear. The first thing you notice are numbers like this, 205/55R16 the first is size, the tire is 205 mm wide, the second number 55 is aspect ration, and the last R16 means it is a radial tire and will fit on a 16 in rim. Occasionally speed ratings will be put before the R. They would be HR, up to 130mph, VR, up to 149 mph, or ZR, good for over 149mph.You can find more information here:
