What Did Roman Money Look Like?

Roman money looked very similar to the money that we use today, except that like all ancient societies who used money, the Romans stuck to coins. If you picked up a Roman coin in the gutter (or bought one at an antique shop), you might not notice that it was Roman at all until you noticed that the profile was a Roman emperor instead of Washington or Jefferson, and that the back side depicts a Roman temple rather than Monticello.
