What Did Louis Pasteur do?

Louis Pasteur was a French biologist and chemist who made many discoveries in the field of microbiology. He studied micro-organisms and fermentation and is famous for discovering the process of pasteurization which is used for milk today. He theorized that by heating liquids to a certain temperature microbes can be killed. He also worked in the field of immunology and was instrumental in the discovery of a vaccination for rabies.
