What Degree do You Need to be a Teacher?

To be a teacher, the degree you need will vary by state and type of school. Most commonly, you need at least a bachelors degree in education (which will include a focus in your area or grade). Many states also require a double-major in your area–that is, a teaching B.A. alongside a history B.A. for a social studies teacher.
