What Causes People to Snore?

People snore during sleep because their airway is obstructed. The obstruction may be due to mucus and other bodily fluids, but there may also be structural problems in the nasal cavity that causes the airway to be partially blocked when the person is sleeping. If a person’s heavy snoring is persistent or if it is interfering with sleep, he/she should consult with the doctor to rule out other serious problems such as sleep apnea.
